It is about a year since I started this blog site. In that time I’ve written some things which I’m really proud of and some which I know others have enjoyed. I’ve also written some things which haven’t received much interest and some which make me cringe slightly. That’s the nature of blogging I suppose.
Over the last few months I have found it increasingly difficult to write. I have become somewhat hamstrung by a feeling that I have to get each blog just right. I haven’t really succeeded in that, so I have ended up publishing blogs which I wasn’t all that happy with. Perversely, these more recent blogs have taken far longer to write than the earlier ones which I felt were much better.
Looking back, I realise that when I started the blog site, it was great fun. Not many people read what I wrote, so I could just go for it. As the blogs started to gain interest I became more concerned about what my audience might think and perhaps over elaborated on some of the points I was making.
So I have set myself a challenge. In the next few weeks, to mark my site’s first birthday I intend to put out as many short bite size blogs as possible. I’m not going to set a target number of blogs but I am going to have some rules:
- each bite size blog must be fewer than 500 words
- I must complete each bite size blog in one sitting of an hour or less
- I will allow myself a quick review for obvious spelling and grammar mistakes, but no rewrites
I hope you enjoy reading them, but if you don’t I won’t be too upset. After all, along with all the learning and sharing knowledge, blogging is supposed to be fun, right?
